Body anguilliform and cylindrical. There are normally six gill pouches. No branchial pores (present in Eptratretus). Ventral and caudal finfolds well developed.

Color

Body blue-gray with a white head, ventral trunk, ventral finfold, pore margins, gill aperture margin, caudal margin, and dorsal midline.

Size

Maximum size to 47.3cm TL.

Habitat

Taken on mud bottoms from 603-1500m.

Range

Known from the northern Gulf of Mexico, off Puerto Rico, and off St. Croix (U.S. Virgin Is.).
