Color
Body pale with a darker dorsum. Lateral line sections bordered by melanophores. A dark band of pigment above anal fin base.

Habitat
Epipelagic to bathypelagic from 0-1200m. Larvae in shallower waters.

Range
Widespread in the tropical Atlantic: from the Gulf Stream region to the Caribbean Sea and eastern Gulf of Mexico, into the central Atlantic, and south to Brazil.
