Body long and slender. Nostrils well before end of maxilla. Pelvic fin origin about midway between pectoral fin tip and dorsal fin. Anus above pelvic fin tip. Peritoneal sections 8.

Color

Body pale with a silvery lateral stripe. Dusky pigment on the gut region. Top of head and snout with dark pigment.

Size

Maximum size to 62mm SL (immature specimen). Adults unknown.

Habitat

Mesopelagic to bathypelagic from 814-997m.

Range

So far known only from the northwestern Gulf of Mexico.
