Pelvic fin origin about midway between pectoral fin tip and dorsal fin.


Body pale with a silvery lateral stripe. Dusky pigment on the gut region. Top of head and snout with dark pigment.


Maximum size to 62mm SL (immature specimen). Adults unknown.


Mesopelagic to bathypelagic from 814-997m.


So far known only from the northwestern Gulf of Mexico.
