Body long and slender. Nostrils above end of maxilla. Pelvic fin origin closer to dorsal fin than to pectoral fin tip. Anus behind pelvic fin tip. Peritoneal sections 14-15.

Color

Body pale with an indistinct lateral stripe. Four to five dark blotches on dorsum and ventrum posterior to dorsal fin. Post-larva with 14-15 pigment sections on the peritoneum.

Size

Maximum size to 96mm SL. Mature adults not known.

Habitat

Epipelagic to bathypelagic from 0-1300m.
