Body long and moderately slender. Nostrils slightly before end of maxilla. Anus above tip of pelvic fin. Peritoneal sections 9-11.

Color

Body translucent to dusky brown with 9-10 dorsal blotches and 8 ventral blotches. Peritoneal sections black.

Size

Maximum size to 212mm SL.

Habitat

Mesopelagic from 358‒712m.

Range

Scatted records from off New England (Moore et al., 2003), North Carolina, and several Caribbean records (Post, 1971).
